June 4 ... remembering China's Tiananmen Square

On June 4, 1989, the world watched as an uprising in China's Tiananmen Square was squashed by the Chinese Army. As a military tank approached, one lone figure stood defiantly against the force, sending a message to the world the freedom and liberty were worth fighting for.

The George W. Bush Institute's Freedom Collection program coordinator, Christopher Walsh, commemorated the historical date:

The Tiananmen Square protests began as a student-led, pro-democracy uprising.  Lasting for several weeks, the demonstrations attracted people from different segments of society hoping to pressure the government on democratic reform.  The protest culminated on June 4, 1989 when the Chinese military dispersed demonstrators with tanks and lethal force.

One of those demonstrators was Fang Zheng, who lost both of his legs in the crackdown.  For resisting government coercion to sign a written statement suggesting the incident at Tiananmen was an “accident,” Fang was denied his college degree.    This tragedy, however, did not dampen Fang’s spirit.  He became involved in wheelchair athletics and used his profile to advocate for human rights in China.  In his Freedom Collection interview, Fang remembers the moment when a Liberation Army tank ran him over, severing his legs

McDonnell Asian mission helps cities like Waynesboro

Though he has received some criticism for spending money to travel to Asia at a time when the economy is still shaky, the promise of a greater return lured Governor Bob McDonnell to seek agreements on economic development and investments for Virginia.

The small city of Waynesboro in the central Shenandoah Valley is an example of how Asian trade agreements can help the economy and rebuild jobs. I've written about it today at the Washington Examiner....

China kills babies ... and Posner apologizes to China because we enforce our immigration laws??

Rush Limbaugh pointed out on his Monday radio show that the Obama administration apologized to China for human rights violations in America. Rush, paraphrasing the Chinese, said:

... "Look, you guys have a high crime rate, you have too much poverty. Don't lecture us on human rights, America! Don't lecture us. Look at you. You got a crime rate that's burgeoning, you got homelessness, you got poverty, and you got racial discrimination. So don't tell us. Don't lecture us about human rights." This guy Posner, on his own, brought up the Arizona immigration law and agreed with the ChiComs that it is a problem!

When Obama apologizes for this country around the world, it is a surprise that one of his peons would do the same thing? China has not apologized to us for anything. Nobody apologizes to us. We're out there apologizing to them. It's truly outrageous. The ChiComs shoot people dead who try to cross their border. Who in the world are we kidding here? We, from the responsible sectors of the media, have been attempting to warn the people of this country who it is that make up this regime and what their ideology is and what their attitudes about this country are.

Most are familiar with China's communist government and its lack of concern for human rights or what the rest of the world thinks of it.

Pundit and Pundette have another horror story from China about an aborted baby, thought dead, heard crying while waiting to be cremated:

An aborted baby declared dead by doctors in south China's Guangdong Province cried before he was due to be cremated, but died hours later as doctors refused to treat him.

Undetected Chinese sub gets dangerously close to U.S.S. Kitty Hawk

This is unsettling. As reported by National Terror Alert:

An unexpected visit by a Chinese Submarine that went undetected in the middle of a Pacific Ocean Naval exercise and came extremely close to the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, has American military chiefs looking for answers.

The sub was apparently able to slip past at least a dozen U.S. warships, two U.S. submarines and a vast array of advanced technology, which failed to detect it.

China has sold American consumers poison-contamined pet food, toothpaste, and mouthwash as well as children's toys containing lead-based paint, suspect seafood ... what is going on?

Are prominent American companies risking their reputations by outsourcing to China? Will Mattel and Fisher-Price be trusted by consumers in the future? Now that practically every product we purchase is made in China or some other overseas manufacturer, does the U.S. have adequate quality control to ensure the safety of American consumers? These are questions Americans are beginning to ask....
