Toto, we're not in Iraq anymore!

The Shenandoah Valley
Welcomes Home

SSgt. Herb Harman!

Augusta County, VA

~ Our American Hero ~

It wasn't difficult for SSgt. Herb Harman to know he wasn't in the desert of Iraq anymore.

Arriving home to the Shenandoah Valley this evening, he was greeted with a steady downpour, temperatures holding in the 30s, and a fogged-in Afton Mountain.

A "Welcome Home Hero Harman" sign along with American flags and a "We Support Our Troops" sign welcomed him as he arrived at his neighborhood located on a gravel road winding up the side of a mountain in Augusta County. White twinkling Christmas lights hung from the eaves of the house and a lighted Christmas tree could be seen through the front window. American flags lined the driveway and porch as friends and family poured out of the house to welcome him home.

Thanks, Herb, from all of us in Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro, for the sacrifice you gave for our freedom. And thanks to your family for their sacrifice while you were gone.

He's back!
