From Iraq comes a report that the U.S. military killed at least 30 Sunni insurgent terrorists in Baghdad this week during a battle to retake the streets in one of the most violence-filled areas of the city. From Investors Business Daily (1/25/07, p. A1, "U.S. Steps Up Baghdad Offensive") is this:
Apache helicopters strafed gunmen in high-rises, and armored vehicles fired machine guns from streets as U.S.-led forces fought to regain control over a major Baghdad street. At least 30 Sunni insurgents were killed during the battle. Meanwhile, there were unconfirmed reports that 4 U.S. security workers whose copter was shot down in a Sunni area were executed.

The day I see Muqtada al-Sadr's tortured and bloody corpse dangling from a bridge span is the day that I know we're on our way to doing the right thing in Iraq.
