UCV reports: "Webb calls Iraq a 'dog-and-pony' show"

Flora McDonald at United Conservatives of Virginia calls Jim Webb to task for his comments on yesterday's "Meet the Press."

Hmmm, I wonder how Webb's boy is doing?

The "dog and pony" show comment was about the treatment of visiting legislators -- it's not as if they see the real Iraq, after all.

I hope he is doing well.
My own son is doing just fine and preparing for his second deployment but I guess he's just part of Mr. Webb's Dog and Pony show and doesn't count.

f mcdonald: don't believe the twist SWAC Girl is putting on Senator Webb's words: he said on MTP that Lindsey Graham had been treated to a dog and pony show on his Iraq visit and hadn't seen the real situation. He did NOT say the war was a dog and pony show. Best wishes for a safe and productive deployment for your son.

No twist from here ... what you read is what came from the mouth of Jim Webb. And guess what, Avenger? It came from Flora McDonald in the first place! She can see through the smoke and mirrors of the spinning Left.

I beg your pardon? Apparently neither you nor Flora McDonald saw the program or read the transcript, but let me reproduce for you here the actual "dog and pony show exchange":

SEN. WEBB: You know, you haven’t been to Iraq.

SEN. GRAHAM: I’ve been to—I’ve been there seven times.

SEN. WEBB: You know, you go see the dog and pony shows.

SEN. GRAHAM: I’ve been there as a reservist, I have been there and I’m going back in August.

SEN. WEBB: That’s what congressmen do. Yeah, I have, I have—I’ve been a member of the military when the senators come in.

What Webb was obviously talking about was the kind of special treatment that junketeers get when they show up in a war zone, and Webb knows that better than anyone. So don't tell me about spin -- if you can't report the facts straight in the first place, there's another word for it.

Your mistake, Avenger ("Apparently neither you nor Flora McDonald saw the program or read the transcript...").

I saw it, heard it, and read it so I know of what I speak. Apparently so do many others in the blogosphere if you pull yourself away from here ... there are many writing about Webb's disgraceful behavior.

No amount of excuses on your behalf could make it right ... and you lower yourself by trying. He lost his temper, he said some things that were not appropriate, and he did not act in a statesman-like way.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Webb is a dog and pony show all on his own.
