Rock steps lead to the Confederate Breastworks on Shenandoah Mountain, an important fortification during the Civil War. This historic site contains trenches built by Confederate soldiers to guard the Valley from advancing Union soldiers.

This is the western edge of Pastures District out Rt. 250. My District goes from the Valley to the mountaintops ... which is one reason I love it so much. It is beautiful and the next bend in the road offers more impressive scenery.

Great shots.
My dream vacation is to take like a month and tour all of the Virginia Civil War battlefields.
It is the most beautiful state.
