Augusta County supervisors have agreed to eliminate the county agricultural development job that was put into place two years ago. Beginning July 1, those responsibilities will be taken up by the local Virginia Tech Extention Service office, according to the Waynesboro News Virginian.
Many had grumbled about the money that was appropriated to pay for a position that overlapped other agricultural positions, feeling it was a waste of money and a duplication of responsibilities. That issue is now moot.
The day-long work session was a discussion of the 2008-09 county budget.
