Augusta: Buffalo Gap student killed in car wreck

Memorials along Rt. 262 Bypass from classmates in memory of Cody Hassett.
"Buffalo Gap Loves You Cody"
Bouquet of flowers and Cody's sunglasses grace the wooden cross erected by students from Buffalo Gap High School in memory of their classmate killed in a car accident Monday morning.

Buffalo Gap High School lost one of its own Monday when 17-year-old Cody Hassett was killed in a car wreck on his way to school. The accident, which occurred around 7:00 a.m., hit his friends and classmates hard.

A makeshift memorial cross was erected at the guardrail along the Woodrow Wilson Bypass at the place of the accident. Yesterday, when I took the photos, it was sunny and breezy with the buccolic countryside and the mountains in the background.

How sad ... one of our young people taken too soon. Our prayers go to his family, friends, and classmates.
