Late winter snow ... schools on delay

It started snowing in Augusta County around midnight and was still coming down at sunrise this morning. With a little less than 2" of the heavy white stuff on the ground, public schools announced a one hour delay to be sure of safe travels especially in far rural areas.

It is overcast with snow gently falling but no great accumulation is expected. The birds are flocked around the feeder ... cardinals are a beautiful bright red against the white background ... and I am enjoying looking at the snow-covered trees, bushes, and woods.

Updates on local weather can be found at WHSV TV-3.

It's winter in the Valley ... but spring will arrive one week from today.
