Live-blogging from Marriott with GOP ... # 19

Just saw my mom's friend Bretis from Chesterfield County. Tried to get a photo of George Allen and Eric Cantor being interviewed. Barb is standing on a chair behind us scoping out the room and giving us a heads-up with people in and about.

There are many people on stage ... I cannot see them all ... Ed Gillesipe is introducing the next Attorney General of Virginia Ken Cuccinelli onto the stage with about 20 or 30 Virginia dignitaries. The room is going ballistic. He just brought out his broom and the cheers went up ... the McBollinchelli broom has come home to Richmond.

He just got a phone call from Steve Shannon conceding the race. He made a number of thank-yous to many involved in his campaign. He thanked God for his guidance and the perseverence for a 19-month campaign and he will continue to thank God for his help and guidance because it doesn't end tonight. He is thanking his wife, his children who have been patient and even helped with the race. He built a grassroots army while the opposition had $1 million to start ... they have pulled him through and helped get his message out. Defend the Constitution as it was written ... protect families and fight for limited government and principles. He quoted, "God grants liberty to those who guard it," by Daniel Webster. He thanked everyone from every corner of Virginia for their time, trust, and hard work. (Showing the "Don't Tread On Me" flag.) Symbol of limited government and principles we believe in. Thanks to much of law enforcement community who came out to support him.

Bill Bolling is introduced to loud cheers....

"The dawn of a new age ... this is change you can really believe in!" Bill Bolling, newly elected Lt. Governor ... now on stage ... thanking everyone for all their work for freedom ... volunteers are the boots on the ground! Thanks to people of Virginia for confidence they have place in GOP team ... proud of campaign ... issues in positive light ... no tearing down people. People of Virginia responded tonight. We face some serious challenges ... need to move economy and create jobs, rein in government spending ... we will improve educational opportunities, build 21st century transportation without raising taxes ... will do everything they can to improve access in health care without turning it over to the federal government. We have to be the party of ideas and results ... that reaches out ... that conservative Democrats who have been abandoned by their Party are welcome in our Party. Tonight we are celebrating a great victory but it won't be the last ... the best is yet to come!!
