First Friday in Harrisonburg

The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Republicans had their First Friday today and it was great fun to see so many folks turn out to hear Tony Wilt, the Republican candidate for the 26th delegate House seat. Recently vacated by Matt Lohr, the seat will be up for a special election in June.

Barb and I stopped in to spend lunch with our neighbors to the north. The traffic in Harrisonburg was extremely heavy due to this weekend's graduation at James Madison University ... the town was hopping!

Harrisonburg-Rockingham Clerk of Court Chaz Evans-Haywood led the lunch meeting where Tony Wilt was the main draw. Others who spoke were Greg Coffman, a 17-year Harrisonburg school board member who is now running for City Council, and Ted Bird who is running for re-election on City Council.

State Sen. Mark Obenshain attended as well as Rockingham Republican Chairman David Huffman, former chairman Mike Meredith, and Lowell Barb who is Commissioner of Revenue in Rockingham. Jim Updike represented Valley Family Forum Director Dean Welty.

It was good to see fellow Chesterfield County native Peter Foster who is running the Wilt campaign along with Andrew Jones and Joshua Huffman ... Savannah was there from Dickie Bell's office and Jarred was there from Sen. Obenshain's office, and I met Kaylene. As always, it was good to see Luis Padilla as well as other friendly faces.

I haven't had time to upload the photos but hope to get them done before the weekend is over. Busy days ... busy times. Thanks for lunch ... it was fun.

It was good to see you as well on Friday. I should mention however that although I was wearing a "Tony!" shirt, I am not employed by the campaign. Sorry for any mix-up.

See you again soon!

I'm still wondering what Tony Wilt is actually going to do for the 26th District in Richmond. He seems to not understand even the most basic functions of government.
