Augusta County gives Grand Caverns to town of Grottoes

The deal is sealed. Grand Caverns will now belong to the town of Grottoes:
Augusta County supervisors agreed Wednesday to allow Grottoes to annex the Grand Caverns from the county.
...
The caverns are known as America’s oldest show cave, dating to 1806, and were once visited by Union and Confederate soldiers in the Civil War, including the soldiers of Confederate Gen. Stonewall Jackson.

Grottoes has managed the tourist attraction since October, but the land has remained part of Augusta County.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of July. In exchange for the Caverns, Grottoes has agreed to not force annexation of any county land for the next 10 years.
