The Valley in bloom

Took a walk about the yard today to look at the newly-blooming flowers. The early spring flowers have finished for this year and we're in the second round. The warm daytime temperatures and cool nights have filled out leaves on the trees and greened up the grass. This is a rhododendron bloom.

Virburnum? My mind has gone blank on the name of this flowering bush.
The back yard is green and the leaves have filled out on the trees.

The pretty purple flower that looks like thistle is chives.

Chives! Thank, Joy -- master gardener! That explains why they're on the edge of the garden. We planted herbs on the deck last year and Bill must have wintered them in the garden. Post is changed to reflect the proper name. :)
