2011 Virginia Chili, Blues 'n Brews Festival ... 5th annual in Waynesboro this weekend

Waynesboro says that other folks may throw a party but at the 2011 Virginia Chili, Blues 'n Brews Festival, they ARE the party!

This Saturday, join the fun in downtown Waynesboro from 3-10 p.m. with wild and spicy chili, bluesy entertainment, and a wide selection of brewskis as this popular venue fires up for its fifth year. Located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, chili chefs will compete for over $2,000 in prize money as they show off their cooking skills for all to sample and vote for their choice of the best of the best.

The musical entertainment begins at 3:00 with five acts lined up to bring the blues to the Blue Ridge Mountains, capped at the end of the day by the son of Blue Legend Muddy Waters -- Big Bill Morganfield -- from 8-10 p.m. The mountains will echo into the night with the rocking tunes of Pure Blind Luck, Bluzonia, Mississippi Conjure, Grammy Nominated Tom Principato, and headliner Big Bill Morganfield.

The "brews" part of the festival will offer a selection of mega and micro brews including three Octoberfests, Woodchuck Apple Cider, and the launch of Nelson County's very own Wild Wolf Brewing Company distributed by sponsor Blue Ridge Beverage. Get your brew on with local selections or other varieties on tap including Samuel Adams Octoberfest, Coors Light, and Yeugling Octoberfest.

Tickets are available online now -- $10 each (save $5 per ticket) or buy them at the gate for $15 each. Kids 10 and under are free.
