Why can't we watch NBC-29 in western Augusta County?

There was a time when we were able to watch NBC-29 out of Charlottesville, picking it up with our rabbit ears since cable does not run into this rural area of Augusta County. Then the government made everyone buy converter boxes to convert the television signal over to digital.

And that's when we stopped getting reception to watch that channel. What happened? Since then we have occasionally been able to pick up the signal but most of the time it's garbled.

We had an AD/DC emergency 9" television we had used for years for emergencies and camping (to receive weather and news forecasts) that is now no longer usable because it has no converter box on it.

Thanks to the government for "fixing" yet one more thing....
