Shenandoah National Park in mid-April ... photos #2

Tuesday, April 9, 2013 on Skyline Drive ... warm sunshine with temps in the 70s. It was a beautiful day to drive to South River picnic area north of Rt. 33. Warning: the bugs are out.

Another of the closed overlooks that are being repaved and stone walls rebuilt.

A number of cyclists were enjoying the beautiful day. Here's a group ...
... and here's a loner. He was making good time going downhill.

Where we're going is visible through the winter woods....

Snow still lined the ditches of some cooler spots.

Had to smile at the sign and look at the car thermometer that showed it was 76 degrees. Windows down, hair flying, breathing in the fresh mountain air....

The winter woods. This is why I like them so much ... that view of the forest floor and up to the ridge line will be gone when the leaves come out.
