Tim Tebow hosts 'Night to Shine' Valentine proms tonight for special needs students

"Night to Shine." Worldwide. 15,000 volunteers. Countless smiles. Overflowing love. Tonight.
Tim Tebow is an impressive young man. Besides his athletic skills on a football field, he has a heart of gold and has proven it throughout the years. As his income has grown, he has shared and given back in many ways, some of which I have written about in the past (see Tim Tebow: Christian, role model, athlete and Tim Tebow Foundation helping Philippines victims and Mother's Day 2012 ... Tim Tebow and his mom).
This Valentine's Day he will once again help others with "Night to Shine" proms (see Tim Tebow's Valentine's game plan: Special needs proms throughout nation):
On Feb. 13, a parade of special guests, each with an entourage and some requiring special accommodations, will appear at the non-denominational church for a night Fasano vows they will never forget. The church is one of dozens across the country taking part in “Night to Shine,” a prom-style evening of dining and dancing for special needs teenagers organized by the foundation of former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow. The same scenario is playing out at 49 other churches in 26 states as well as Amazing Grace International Ministries, in Nairobi, Kenya, and Ekisa Ministries, in Jinja, Uganda.
Tebow, 27, a devout Christian who quarterbacked the Florida Gators to two national championships and won the Heisman Trophy before a brief NFL career, said the special night will honor teens who struggle with a variety of disabilities.

Valentine's Day: Henry Hager surprises wife Jenna who is working with Today Show in Russia for Winter Olympics
Imagine being on assignment halfway around the world on the most romantic day of the year. Now imagine an on-air Valentine's Day surprise that brings tears to a young wife's eyes.
That was what happened this morning on the Today Show, in Sochi, Russia, to cover the Winter Olympics, when Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, and her fellow female hosts were surprised by their significant others in America.
Standing in an NBC studio in the States, each gentleman held a bouquet of red roses and expressed love and appreciation for their wives. Included was Henry Hager, Jenna's husband and son of Virginia's former Lieutenant Governor John and Maggie Hager, whose wife has been in Russia the past week. The surprise brought tears to Jenna's eyes, maybe because not only has she been away from her husband but also her five-month-old daughter Mila.
This will be a Valentine's Day to remember for the young Hager family....

A lazy Sunday afternoon
We're experiencing a lazy Sunday afternoon as the sun shines on the snow (there's still a foot or more on the ground). We've had a filling Valentine's dinner topped off with chocolates and flowers along with lively conversation.
SWAC Husband was planted in front of the television flipping back and forth between Daytona's NASCAR race and the Olympics but he's gone outside now to restock firewood because the "S" word is in the forecast again.
The kids are in front of the other TV watching the Olympics while SWAC Son restrings my 12-string guitar, bless his heart. If you've ever undertaken that task, you know why I'm glad he volunteered to do it.
The Waynesboro and Richmond newspapers have been devoured ... ads for Target, Ukrop's, Best Buy, and CVS have been passed around ... Ross Mackenzie's column has been read and approved as usual.
We reran the taped Olympic Opening Ceremonies and talked about the parts we liked and didn't. My favorite was the hoe-down with the Irish flair of fiddles and dancing ... SWAC daughter liked the whales ... none of us could understand the choice of music by k.d. lang because it was a downer kind of song for a celebration event (but the woman can sing just as powerfully as ever) ... and we watched again while the fourth torch trench did not rise from the floor as four torch-bearers stood and waited ... and waited ... and waited.
A quick check of email and response to a friend ... now I'm back upstairs where I can hear my guitar playing so it is restrung and ready to go. Remind me to tell that kid how wonderful he is....
It's a family kind of day in the Shenandoah Valley....
