A beautiful fall day in the Shenandoah Valley....

Last night saw the temps drop into the upper 30s for the first time this autumn season in the Valley, and today is another beautifully brilliant sunny day as I prepare to head out to deliver more campaign yard signs.

Lots of happenings are going on in the area this first October weekend. Today is the Quilting Bee at Humpback Rock Mountain Farm on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Tomorrow is "Dayton Days" in the small community west of Harrisonburg, a time when Dayton's downtown area shuts down to traffic and dozens of craft booths are set up along with food and entertainment. They always pull thousands of visitors to that event. Open 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Tomorrow is also the Mennonite Relief Sale, that annual event that is held at the Rockingham County Fairground on Rt. 11 south of Harrisonburg to raise money for missionary projects. Food, crafts, entertainment, auctioning of quilts, and more.

Green Valley Bookfair opens tomorrow for a two-week run.

That's only a fraction of what is going on in the Valley during October. Come on up and enjoy the mountains!
