This weekend: "Defending the American Dream"

This is the weekend when thousands from throughout the nation converge on Arlington, Virginia, for the 2nd annual "Defending the American Dream" summit presented by Americans for Prosperity Foundation.

Friday and Saturday, October 10-11, will find fiscally conservative citizens at a Capitol Hill Rally and news conference to send a message to politicians to put an end to wasteful pork-barrel spending, and make sure they understand that Global Warming Alarmism means higher taxes, lost jobs, and less freedom.

Americans For Prosperity brings together the nation's leading free-market minds to give citizens the tools necessary to recruit, motivate, and develop even more grassroots leaders to lead this important fight. National experts will be there to show how to more effectively make our voices heard on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures, and show that the American taxpayers have has enough of out-of-control spending and taxation.

Special guest speakers include John Stossel (ABC's 20/20), Fred Barnes (Executive Editor of The Weekly Standard), Dinesh D'Souza (author of the book Ronald Reagan), George Will (conservative commentator), Steve Moore (The Wall Street Journal), U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), Dr. James Miller (Budget Director for President Ronald Reagan), Ed Meese (Scholar & Former Attorney General), John Fund (The Wall Street Journal), Bob McDonnall (Virginia Attorney General), Congressman Tom Price (R-GA), and Bob Ehrlich (former MD Governor and Congressman). Last year unannounced special guests showed up, too, so we may have more.

Friday night will be a very special "Tribute to Ronald Reagan" dinner at the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel with guest speakers George Will, David Koch (AFP Foundation Chairman), Dinesh D'Souza, Sen. James Ihofe, Edwin Meese, and Dr. James Miller.

Saturday will have breakout sessions and seminars throughout the day with lots of guest speakers including Herman Cain (radio host), Grover Norquist (Americans for Tax Reform), Erick Erickson (RedState.com), Steve Lonegan (AFP NJ Director), Bill Howell (VA House Speaker), Del. Brenda Pogge, Del. Ben Cline, and many others who will educate and enlighten.

This is a weekend I am truly looking forward to as we travel with our Virginia AFP members and meet up with AFPers from other states. Ben Marchi, VA State Director, will be there as well as Trixie Averill.

This is a critical time in our nation's history. Speak up and lend your voice to this important effort. Join us as we Defend the American Dream.
