Live blogging the AG debate at GOP Advance ... part 3

Former AG Jerry Kilgore will moderate the debate and he is now speaking after the three candidates were announced: Brownlee, Cuccinelli, and Foster.

AG Kilgore joked that he asked his 12-year-old daughter Kelsie, "What if I ask the question, 'Who was your favorite former Attorney General and why?' but she suggested he may not like the answer. The crowd got a good laugh out of that.

First up is John Brownlee who is now offering his opening statement. He is a prosecutor from the Roanoke area.

Now the ballroom is standing-room only as interested Virginia Republicans gather to hear from the three gentlemen who seek the top law enforcement office in the Commonwealth.

Mr. Foster is saying he will spend every waking moment protecting the citizens of Virginia.

Next up is Sen. Ken Cuccinelli who has a robust group of supporters in the room. He is giving his background in the Virginia senate by running on conservative issues in a NoVa location. He is the only senator who has proposed the past six years spending cuts in the Senate ... he has worked to protect property rights ... campaigned for Marriage Amendment in NoVa (applause) ... been involved in every improvement in the criminal justice system the past six years while in senate ... all while representing Fairfax County residents. He has won three times in that area by people who share his commitment to the Constitution and principles. Build on a foundation of principle an bringing people into the campaign, not just on money. Asked for the vote at the Convention.

Dave Foster is now speaking. We cannot win by abandoning our core Republican principles ... we must work to enforce them. Renovated schools ... joked that he's from the People's Republic of Arlington.

Check out http://www.shaunkenney.com/ for complete coverage because he is typing his fingers off ... he's hard-core blogger.

The opening statements are finished and questions are beginning with Jerry Kilgore.

First question: "Your webs have a page about your families. If your spouse had a page devoted to you, what would she say? Good question ... good answers."
