Sam Snead's Tavern at the Homestead

Just back from dinner at Sam Snead's Tavern which is part of the Homestead complex. The meals are more affordable than on-site restaurants and the atmosphere is cozy ... a rustic building across the street from the Homestead in Hot Springs.

The walls are covered with photos of Sam Snead who grew up in Hot Springs and who worked at the Homestead in his youth. One of the photos at our table showed an older Sam Snead at the White House with President George H.W. Bush (# 41 -- the dad). Our waitress (Pat?) was friendly and helpful and very attentive. The atmosphere was wonderful on a cold wintry night.

After returning to the Homestead I wandered around outside taking more photos of the Christmas lights ... until my fingers were so cold they about froze off. It is supposed to be in the teens tonight. I hurried inside to one of the fireplaces in the Great Hall where the rest of my family was gathered to warm up and people-watch.

This has been a wonderful long weekend.
