What a beautiful Election Day 2009! It was 60 degrees and sunny in the Shenandoah Valley ... a perfect autumn day to be checking out the polls. After spending the morning doing just that, I met fellow SWACer Barb Tillett and headed to Richmond for the big Republican gathering at the Marriott. We have arrived and are set up for the evening.
Credentialed as a blogger, we are sitting with the press overlooking the stage, the signs, the American and Virginia flags, and the red, white, and blue balloons that are being blown up to decorate the room. It's a bee hive of activity for the press ... those from throughout Virginia and the nation ... setting up for this bellweather election. Carl Cameron from Fox News has been round and about as he prepares for his TV spots.
Other Virginia bloggers I know who plan to attend are Crystal Clear Conservative, Jane from Bearing Drift, and Jason Kenney but will be watching for others.
We parked in the Marriott garage and Matt Wells pulled in and parked two spots over. Barb thanked him for all his hard work and then he headed inside to join other Bolling staffers.
I'm sitting beside a young blogger from Real Clear Politics, and on the other side is the Richmond Times-Dispatch (he isn't here yet ... wonder if it will be Tyler Whitley) and the Associated Press. TV reporters are in various areas giving updates. It's going to be an exciting evening.
