It was a typical summer day in the Shenandoah Valley as we ushered in summer with 88-degree weather and higher humidity than we've seen the past week. A beautiful sunny day had thunderheads building behind the Alleghanies and the Blue Ridge Mountains and, by mis-afternoon, rumbling thunder signaled storms were approaching. The rain was welcomed and the storms dropped the temperature 15 degrees. There are more to come as we enter the three hottest months of the year.
It was not quite as memorable as previous first days of summer....
It's summer in the Valley....
