Goodlatte to have more competition for 6th District seat

An independent has now entered the race for the 6th District congressional seat currently held by Republican Bob Goodlatte.

Janice Lee Allen of Bridgewater has decided to throw her hat into the ring against Congressman Goodlatte and Democrat candidate Sam Rasoul.

According to the Waynesboro News Virginian:
Allen is a Bridgewater resident and graduate of Emory and Henry College, Virginia Tech, Wesley Theological Seminary and Christian Bible College and Seminary. She said Thursday she has qualified to run in November against incumbent Congressman Bob Goodlatte and Democrat Sam Rasoul.

In her announcement, Allen says she owns her own real estate business and is a member of a family that includes generations of farmers, laborers and small business owners.

“It is time for us to have a voice in Congress who will represent each and every individual in this district, and not someone who is tied to a party platform,’’ Allen said.
The 6th District now has three candidates running for the congressional seat. Election day is November 4.
