Powell denies he will attend Dem Convention

Amidst rumors that he would be attending the Democratic National Convention in Denver later this month, Colin Powell told ABC News on Wednesday that he had no intention of being at the event. He also added that he would not be at the Republican National Convention to be held in St. Paul, MN, in September.

Questions remain about his endorsement choice, raising speculation he may cross the aisle and vote against the Republican candidate, John McCain. Avoiding any commitment, Powell told CNN:

"I will vote for the candidate I think can do the best job in America -- whether that candidate is a Republican or Democrat or an independent."

Powell has been critical of the Bush Administration where he served as Secretary of State from 2001-2005.
