Earthquake rattles downtown Short Pump

Not quite as earth-shattering as the constant development of the past 10-15 years, Downtown Short Pump was hit with an earthquake last night that was verified by the Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory.

I remember something similar years ago when I was about 15 years old ... a small earthquake that was felt in the Bon Air area of the Richmond metropolitan area. It's not something we encounter often in this part of the world.

No surprise since there is a fault line in nearby Goochland County. My first earthquake experience was in Richmond in December 2003 http://www.drudgereportarchives.com/data/2003/12/09/20031209_222404.ht.

It sounded like a train and it was strange seeing my monitor shaking.
