Roxanne Gilmore in Abingdon this Sunday: 'Restoring the Governor's House'


Former Virginia First Lady Roxanne Gilmore will in in Abingdon this Sunday to address the Washington County Library Friends Lecture.

Mrs. Gilmore will deliver an illustrated lecture on the book, Restoring the Governor's House, that she wrote about the lengthy process that she oversaw to restore the executive mansion in Richmond. She will describe the behind-the-scenes problems and their solutions, as well as images of the actual restoration, showing the delicate restoration and modernization of the oldest, continuously used state residence.

Anyone who has seen the mansion in the years since the Gilmores were residents has seen the beautiful result of Mrs. Gilmore's work of love.
