The recent spat of school shootings in this country has been driven home even more with the attack on the peaceful Amish in Lancaster County, PA. These events seem to trigger something in unstable minds that causes copycat shootings.
After the horrible tragedy at Columbine some years back, I saw a jump in the number of parents who chose to home school their children. As a leader of a local home school group, I received numerous phone calls from concerned families looking for an alternative to public education and escape from the possibility of this type of senseless violence. It was the most calls I had ever received in all my years in leadership. I expect it will happen again. How sad....
