Today's Allen Rally at Shenandoah Airport/Weyers Cave
About a hundred Valley residents turned out today to greet their favorite senator -- George Allen -- as the countdown continues until Election Day - not a bad crowd considering most didn't know about it until they woke up this morning!
To applause and cheers, he entered the airport waving and shaking hands with those in attendance. After an introduction by Delegate Steve Landes, the Senator rallied the group with his usual, "Hello Virginians ... Patriots All!" and discussed his issues and accomplishments, something we've been missing the past two months as the Webb campaign slung mud and false accusations without discussing Webb's issues. He was on and back in true form ... the George Allen we all know and love.
Rhonda Winfield was part of the crowd and was called forward to stand with him as a reminder of why we are fighting in Iraq and the sacrifices that have been made by military families including the Winfields. Rhonda lost her 19-year-old son, Marine Lance Cpl. Jason Redifer, when he was killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom on January 31, 2005. She has been a solid supporter of President George W. Bush and Senator Allen in the War on Terror.
The press was out in force and there was a question-and-answer period by journalists from TV3, NBC-12, Waynesboro News-Virginian, Staunton News Leader, Richmond Times-Dispatch, and more. Hear the answers on tonight's news or read in tomorrow's newspapers.
Afterwards, Senator Allen visited with just about everyone who was there ... talking, listening, posing for photos. After an hour he waved good-bye and boarded his plane to head out.
35 days to go ... let's work hard ... get those yard signs out ... post those bumper stickers on your vehicles ... man Republican headquarters ... phone ... walk ... wave signs ... do some part to help in re-electing George Allen.
On Election Day will you be able to say you've done everything you could to put George Allen back into office ... and help keep the Republican majority in Congress?
