Poll: Fox now most trusted news in America

A new poll says Fox News Channel (FNC) is now the most trusted news source in America with 27%, beating out CNN which came in at 14.6%. Fox has made substantial gains because it was ranked 14.6% behind CNN at 23.8% in 2003.

Rankings of news outlets were:
- Fox News, 27%
- CNN, 14.6%
- NBC News, 10.9%
- ABC News, 7%
- Local News, 6.9%
- CBS News, 6.8%
- MSNBC, 4%
- PBS News, 3%
- CNBC, 0.6%
- CBN, 0.5%
The report went on to say:
“Americans know bias and imbalance when they see it and they don’t like it. When most service organizations strive for consumer satisfaction ratings in the high eighties to low nineties, an overall positive rating of 40.7% is dismal,” said Jerry C. Lindsley, director of the Sacred Heart University Polling Institute. He added, “Americans know that it’s just not that hard to present both sides and keep personal bias at home.”

By four-to-one margins, Americans surveyed see The New York Times (41.9% to 11.8%) and National Public Radio (40.3% to 11.2%) as mostly or somewhat liberal over mostly or somewhat conservative.

By a three-to-one margin, Americans see news media journalists and broadcasters (45.4% to 15.7%) as mostly or somewhat liberal over mostly or somewhat conservative.

And, by a two-to-one margin, Americans see CNN (44.9% to 18.4%) and MSNBC (38.8% to 15.8%) as mostly or somewhat liberal over mostly or somewhat conservative.

Just Fox News was seen as mostly and somewhat conservative (48.7%) over mostly or somewhat liberal (22.3%).
It is nice to have a news network that presents both sides of an issue, and that is what Fox News does. Perhaps America has noticed even as Democrat presidential candidates have chosen to boycott debating on Fox, responding to their extreme left wing of the party.

Very suprised that GOVERNMENT supported PBS and NPR were not at the top. After all, they are so fair and balance.

GOP Rock, I know what you mean. I find it discouraging that the government continues to fund NPR and PBS even as they continue to lean further left.

Hoobie, when Fox News covers a subject, they have someone from both sides of the issue to discuss and debate it. They continually have a Republican and a Democrat facing off on issues.

The other news outlets do not do that. NBC, my former news outlet, continually set up one side and let the opinion of the interviewer creep into the discussion. It was clear which side they were on.

Fox News came on my radar in 2000. It was nice to finally listen to the news and not want to throw my shoe at the TV! I was extremely tired of the biased leanings of the other networks.

Even now it is rare to find an interview on the other news outlets that offers opinions from both sides of the political aisle.

What Fox News offers is a choice for viewers. They must be extremely effective to be so intimidating to liberals even to the extent that they persuaded their dem presidential candidates to boycott Fox for the planned presidential debates.

Which, by the way, have been the best debates of this campaign so far. Their past two debates with Republicans have been informative, interesting, and have shown some dynamics that had not shown up before now.

NPR and PBS lean to the left???

I really miss FoxNews...we decided to drop the cable months ago to save money.

I too started watching FoxNews in 2000. I never knew how left leaning and depressing CNN was until several years ago when we were forced to listen to it at an airport. After about 2 hours, my wife and I were about ready to jump in front of an airplane. It was so depressing...everything was so negative and depressing. We finally moved to the end of the terminal where there was no T.V.

All news services are biased to one extent or the other...

O'reilly shouts over guests he doesn't agree with. Hannity & Colmes - A strong, good looking conservative, vs a dorky ugly weak arguing moderate or slightly left wing host.

How about the times when there is a Republican scandal and the put a 'D' after their names instead of the 'R'?

It is funny out of all the 'news' outlets they listed, the only partisan outlet they listed was Fox. Fox is no more unbiased than Air America. If you think you are getting news from Fox, then you might be beyond help.
