He writes:Former Gov. Jim Gilmore, a Republican, sent a letter to Republican leaders yesterday in which he criticized Gov. Tim Kaine's push to close the so-called gun show loophole.Kaine addressed the issue in his State of the State Address last week, stirring up gun activists who disagree with the governor:
Since the speech, gun-rights activists have accused Mr. Kaine of distorting the Virginia Tech tragedy, where 32 students and faculty where killed by a student with mental illness, to make it seem as if the "loophole" had something to do with the massacre. They say and Mr. Kaine agrees that the law would not have stopped the gunman from buying the guns he used in the massacre.

In his letter to Speaker Howell, Gilmore points to a 2001 study by the Bureau of Justice Statistics found that less than one percent of guns used in crimes have come from gun shows.

It's a simple choice:
Gilmore, who drove the Commonwealth's economy into the ditch while poisoning the well with partisan crap, or Warner, who pulled y'all back out again.
Give it up.
Virginians are smarter than you give them credit for, and they'll not fall for this nonsense again.

Kestrel, I see you have been drinking the Kool-Aid known as democrat talking points.
You should read again about Gilmore's administration and what he did for the Commonwealth. While you're at it, read about how Mark Warner campaigned on "not raising taxes" and then proposed the largest tax increase in Virginia history at a time when it was not necessary, then with the help of Emmett Hanger and other Republican senators had the increase passed makaing Warner the Golden Boy of the democrat party.
It is hard to revise history when you are talking to someone who lived through it, talked with Emmett about it, and remembers well what happened. And then watched Warner's star rise because of the Republicans who went against their own Party and supported him.
Funny thing is, I am watching the dems self-destruct as the Hillary supporters and Obama supporters tear into each other. So it may not be wise to be too gleeful....
