Arizona newspaper tells Pima County Sheriff Dupnik "enough vitriol"

As we all watched the first press conference from Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik after Saturday's shootings in Arizona, we listened as he blamed political rhetoric for the tragedy. It was mentioned that a note had been left behind by the alleged shooter so we wondered if it had named specific people or provided reasons for a disturbed young man to go on a rampage.

The sheriff's blame didn't stop after the news conference but continued in follow-up interviews in the following days.

Now, five days later, it is becoming clearer that the apolitical individual suspected of the shooting was disturbed and not influenced by anything political as has been suggested by numerous media outlets and lefty bloggers.

Today the Arizona Republic newspaper called on the sheriff to cease with the needless rhetoric from a lawman who, though Democrat, should remain impartial:
Dupnik took up his cause again on Monday. And, in response, we have to say at last . . . enough. Enough attacks, sheriff. Enough vitriol. It is well past time for the sheriff of Pima County to get a grip on his emotions and remember his duty.
Time will tell if he will follow that advice.
