First Amendment rights are under attack for a blogger in Fluvanna County who used the county seal to illustrate his updates about board of supervisor meetings and activities. The board voted to enact a law to make it a Class 1 misdemeanor if the seal was used without permission. Vice Chairman Shaun Kenney voted against the law.
The county seal is routinely used by news outlets when writing about Fluvanna County.
Now the Rutherford Institute has sued the county on behalf of the blogger, citing an abuse of First Amendment rights. What's going on in Fluvanna? Check out this Washington Examiner piece about this issue.
