Central Virginia countryside on a mid-December day

Driving home from Richmond, we decided to take Rt. 250 through the beautiful Virginia countryside on a beautiful mid-December day. Both sides of the road were lined with the winter woods.

Crozet at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

 Augusta County ... yay!

A side trip to the Skyline Drive on the way home gave us an opportunity to see the Shenandoah National Park in December. It's a great time to be alone in the solitude of the mountains....

 It's hunting season....

Descending into the Valley from Afton Mountain ... almost home.
