Amy Caracofe ... 1990-2008 -- Augusta teen killed in car crash

Updated story: Amy Caracofe ... a young life lost too soon

Amy Lin Caracofe, 17, of Crimora passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, from injuries received in a car accident. She was born Feb. 15, 1990, in Raleigh, N.C., and was the daughter of Doug E. and Angelia Gale (Jones) Caracofe of New Hope.

Amy was a senior at Fort Defiance High School. She was employed as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Staunton YMCA and was a member of New Hope Fire and Rescue.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a half sister, Celeste A. Crudup of Zebulon, N.C., and a grandmother, Linda A. Parker of Franklinton, N.C. Three uncles, three aunts, three nephews and 10 cousins also survive.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Middle River Church of the Brethren in New Hope, with the Revs. Nathan Myers and Jamie Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in New Hope.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes.
