It's more like "Black Friday" to 1,100 Chrysler dealerships throughout America as they wait today for FedEx to deliver the bad news. What a way to find out your livelihood is going down the tubes ... a "Dear John" notice in the mail. Sad.
My dad was a Ford guy and he was very dedicated to the brand. He is deceased but I can only imagine his sadness if this was going on with his company. Dealers who carry multiple brands will not be affected as much ... but there are those who carry only Chrysler and they will be shut down and employees let go.
It is part of the changes of time ... we no longer have the ice man walking down city streets delivering blocks of ice to homes ... we no longer receive our milk in returnable glass bottles delivered to our front porches ... we no longer have coal delivered and shoveled into coal shoots to our cellars. Nothing stays the same.
That said, it doesn't make it any easier for those who are directly dealing with this situation. Chrysler's "Black Friday" will be remembered a long time....

Might be a grand time for consumers to seize an excellent bargain?
The downside is, no warranty support for the new car.
The upside, however, might mean 50% or even 70% cutbacks in prices.
I hate to hear about anyone loosing honest work, especially this way. The part of this that really torks me up is that the people who had a lot to do with creating this mess (the UAW) will have comparitively speaking minor losses while the honest non union emps at the dealerships get wholesale screwed thanks to the union greed.
