Thoughts on a stormy Shenandoah Valley night....

As thunderstorms roll through the Valley area overnight, I've taken the opportunitiy to get online between storms.

Happy Birthday to my brother-in-law in Richmond! May he have many more....

The rain came down in buckets tonight as the storms stalled over various areas. While visiting friends who live at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the rain absolutely poured for two hours as we stayed safe and dry inside in the warmth of friendship. Driving home in the darkness, thankfully only showers sprinkled on me as I drove wet roadways. The only deer I saw were within a mile of my own house....

Dinner with friends turned into an evening of fellowship, fun, and a time to enjoy being with a group of good people. The food was good, the atmosphere was good, and the friends were fabulous. It's a reminder to give thanks for those who are close to us....

As Palmer Kitty sleeps curled up on the sofa, I laugh at an old episode of Frasier as Eddie the dog shows up on the screen in a yellow rain slicker that Daphne had dressed him in. Funny....

Received a high school graduation announcement for a friend's daughter, her youngest child. Life marches on....

Planted the window boxes two weeks ago and finally put them out today. The flowers have a good start and we've passed the frost date although the forecaster is calling for temps in the 30s Monday night. We may have to pull them in that night....

We have a chipmunk explosion this year. Some of the little critters have moved from the homestead in the backyard to the front porch, and the back porch seems to be a playground for the new crop of younguns....

Looking at the Weather Channel, it looks as if more rain will be coming through tonight. The garden is lapping up the moisture and I've heard the water table is finally up after being in near-drought conditions for a while....

We are enjoying spring in the Shenandoah Valley....
