... Washington & Lee University and University of Richmond named ‘Best Values in Private Colleges.’

RICHMOND- Governor Bob McDonnell released the following statement in response to a recent report from Kiplinger naming eight Virginia colleges and universities to their list of ‘Best Values’.

“Kiplinger has recognized what we here in Virginia have known for some time: that our colleges and universities provide an exceptional education that prepares our young people to be successful adults.

Over the last year, I created the Higher Education Commission on Reform, Innovation, and Investment to build upon the strengths of our exceptional higher education institutions and have advocated a goal to graduate an additional 100,000 degrees in the next 15 years.

Recently, I announced $50 million in total net new higher education investment as a down payment on that goal. These eight colleges and universities, along with all of Virginia’s public, private and community colleges, will play a vital role in reaching these goals to ensure that our students are given the tools and resources they need to compete successfully in the global economy in which we live. Congratulations to these schools for their hard work and dedication to providing a ‘valuable’ education.”
