Christmas card from Vice President Dick Cheney

The Tetons -- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Photography by David Bohrer

Our best wishes to you and your family
in this holiday season
and throughout the year ahead.

We received a beautiful Christmas card today from Vice President and Mrs. Cheney with a photograph of the Teton Mountains in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on the front. That is where the Cheneys live ... and it is beautiful country. I recognized the mountains immediately when I opened the card because they are unmistakable and even more grand when one is in their physical presence.

Inside was a Bible verse:

O LORD, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. -Psalm 104:24 (KJV)
Under the vice presidential seal it said:
Our best wishes to you and your family
in this holiday season
and throughout the year ahead.
It was signed, "Lynne Cheney, Dick Cheney."

My Christmas message to the Vice President would be:
Thank you for your steadfast leadership and support of our President the past eight years. Thank you for your role in fighting terrorism and helping to keep America safe. Thank you for your wisdom and your experience and your willingness to be of service to our country even in the face of your own personal health issues. We thank you for being the common sense, steadfast man that you are ... and we will be forever grateful for your dedication to our country.

Merry Christmas, Mr. Vice President.
