Eric Cantor's 2009 Republican Round-Up ... Ken Cuccinelli

Sen. Cuccinelli holds a broom as a visual for the GOP to "sweep" the Top 3 state offices in 2009.

As a home school mom, Ken Cuccinelli's service in the Virginia State Senate came on my radar not long after he was elected to that position. I was president of the SWAC area home school group and, as one who was very involved in politics, made sure other families knew of this home school dad who had made his way into elected office.

Sen. Cuccinelli was an example of what we, the conservative home schoolers of Virginia, could do, both personally and as a group, by supporting those willing to sacrifice to be in public service. Winning in a Democratic area of Northern Virginia, Sen. Cuccinelli proved that conservatives could stand by their beliefs and still win.

Using the Gadsden "Don't Tread On Me" flag as a symbol of his campaign, Sen. Cuccinelli exemplified the independence of home schoolers and of many conservatives ... those willing to stand by their principles in a world of squishes.

His use of a visual aide at Saturday's Round-Up appealed to this "visual learner" mom ... and to the crowd. After greeting supporters and speaking for a few minutes, he walked to a spot at the side of the stage and picked up a broom. Holding it high in the air, he began to chant, "Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!" as the crowd picked up on the chant.

Using visuals like a "Don't Tread On Me" flag ... and now a broom ... Ken Cuccinelli acts like a home school dad! Victory on November 3!
