While many Virginia citizens are uneasy at the thought of taking on more debt at the state level, others agree with a plan unveiled today by Gov. Bob McDonnell.
In his search for a solution on transportation and road concerns, the Governor presented a proposal to allow Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads to receive .25% of the discretionary sales tax from those regions to go toward road projects, according to reporter Olympia Meola at the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
His other proposals included a tax credit for businesses who allow telework for employees, and a tax credit on a per-container basis for companies dealing with cargo shipped by barge and railroad with the thoughts that it may help relieve highway traffic.
