Chix with stix ...

One of Chesterfield County's sports complexes.
This one has field hockey fields.

SWAC Niece playing in the Orange Crush tournament ...

Good defense!

Parents on the sidelines ...

Spent Saturday at SWAC Niece's field hockey tournament in Chesterfield. What fun! Parents and players mixing and mingling between games and enjoying the day. Her first game was 8 am and she finished up around 2:30.

The weather in Richmond was hot and muggy ... upper 80s with hit-and-miss thunderstorms that did not materialize over the playing field. Water bottles were filled and refilled ... ice was distributed to prevent wilted players on the field.

They didn't win the tournament but they had fun, as did I. Great game, SWAC Niece!

Wow, I am glad to see field hockey is not becoming part of the past. I played field hockey for many years at the rec league level. It's my favorite sport outside of running and softball.

Yes, field hockey is alive and well in Chesterfield County. This particular sports complex is the only one with field hockey fields but there were lots of girls on many fields playing in the tournament.

I think this is the third year my niece has played, and she loves it.
