Rocky Mountain thunderstorms

Thunderstorms gather over Breckenridge, Colorado.

Dark clouds and rain in Breckenridge with snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Listening as a thunderstorm rolls over the Appalachians on its path to the Blue Ridge Mountains reminds me of the daily afternoon Rocky Mountain thunderstorms. Not only did they provide rain but also cooled down the atmosphere.

Boulder was hot the last time we visited Colorado ... Denver was hot ... Breckenridge was cool and wonderful. It's a nice memory as I listen to the pouring-down rain outside the window.

As my mind drifts to Colorado, it's summer in the Shenandoah Valley....
