Tonight: Albemarle County BOS debates support of state sales tax increase

Citizen watch dog group Albemarle Truth in Taxation Alliance (ATTA) has issued an alert to citizens who are tightening up their belts in these economic hard times while the government continues to advocate new taxes:
On Wednesday, January 14, 2009, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution expressing its support of a bill in the General Assembly, ultimately allowing an increase in our local sales tax rate by 20% for "transportation needs."

Click Here to see the resolution.

There are many reasons why this is the wrong approach to the wrong problem at the wrong time. Earlier today, ATTA made its position known with a letter to the Board (see our letter below).

Please attend Wednesday's Board meeting, and express your views about this resolution. You don't have to speak, just attend and stand when someone speaks in favor of the taxpayer!
