Shenandoah's South River ... Grand Caverns

The south fork of the Shenandoah River, otherwise known as the South River, flows by Grand Caverns Park in northwestern Augusta County. This is the walking/biking trail as seen on a cold, rainy, foggy Sunday in mid January.

After four weeks of solid snow pack, two days of 50-degree weather followed by a cold rain on Sunday saw much of the snow melt into swollen rivers, creeks, and lakes. The foggy landscape and cold rain on a 39-degree day was followed on Monday with sunshine and spring-like temps in the 50s.

But it's still winter in the Shenandoah Valley....
