Webb on the war path

The Obama administration has finally ticked off just about every elected in the Commonwealth of Virginia whether it be Republican or Democrat ... and U.S. Sen. Jim Webb (D) is on the war path.

After Secretary of the Defense Robert Gates announced Monday that the federal government planned to close the Joint Forces Command Base in Norfolk, putting thousands out of work, electeds began to go into action including Webb. According to the Washington Examiner:
Webb has since questioned the process behind the decision, saying he is “disappointed” that the White House didn’t consult Virginia’s delegation before the announcement.

A decision of this magnitude should have involved the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, which would have taken into consideration individual stakeholders and the impact on the community, Webb said.

“The Secretary of Defense claims JFCOM is not subject to the base realignment statutes because it is a work-force reduction rather than a base closure,” he said. “However, I believe a strong legal case can be made that the base closure statutes are applicable because this involves a reduction of more than 1,000 civilian personnel.”
Not only has Obama managed to awaken the Sleeping Giant that is the American people with his many overreaching government programs and spending, he has now managed to forge Virginia Republicans and Democrats together in their battle to save jobs.

Now that's a Community Organizer.
