Webb complained that President didn't take his 4th Circuit Court recommendation

Earth to Senator Webb: A "recommendation" is just that ... a recommendation ... a suggestion. It by no means implies the President of the United States has to follow through with the names you and Sen. Warner submitted for the vacancy on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

I wonder if this has more to do with the bad blood between you and the President ... the newspaper reported you complained that your list had been "ignored."

The President nominated Richmond lawyer E. Duncan Getchell Jr. of the McGuire Woods law firm. From everything I have read about the man he appears to be highly qualified and has years of experience which should be acceptable to you ... except he was not your recommendation.

Heh. As your constituent I would like for you to mind your manners around the President and accept his nominee. Do I think that will happen?

When pigs fly....

Get used to it. Webb's been a complainer since he was Sec. of the Navy. Poor me. I don't get my way....
