This is Wildflower Weekend in Shenandoah National Park with a full itinerary of events scheduled Saturday and Sunday.
There are more than 1,300 species of plants within the Park boundaries. In May the pink azaleas (Rhododendron spp.) are in bloom and can be seen from the Skyline Drive. Here's a calendar to follow the wildflower show in the mountains.
