Friday: Homeschool Day at Frontier Culture Museum

Friday is Homeschool Day at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton. Each fall, this popular event  offers the opportunity for homeschool families from throughout the Commonwealth to enjoy hands-on history offered by historical exhibits and costumed interpreters.

Demonstrating daily routines of early American immigrants who traveled to the New World from England, Ireland, Germany, and Africa, some activities that can be observed include cooking, gardening, woodworking, flax and wool spinning, and school house lessons. Children of all ages will enjoy the animals who live on the farms -- ducks, chickens, pigs, cows.

Homeschool Day will take place from 9-5, rain or shine. Bring a lunch and take advantage of the picnic tables under shelter or outside. Nearby restaurants include Burger King, McDonald's, Chili's, Cracker Barrel, Martin's supermarket cafe, Five Guys, KFC, Firehouse Subs, and Starbucks.

Tickets for the day are $7/adults and $5 for children 6-17. Children under 5 are free. Come join the fun!
