Icy Wonderland in Shenandoah Valley

Winter Wonderland from SWAC Girl's Deck
We weathered the storm and woke up to an icy wonderland this morning. Sleet, snow, icy rain, and more sleet fell overnight in the Shenandoah Valley, causing widespread power outages including my house. We were prepared when the electricity went out in the wee hours of the morning, staying out for ten hours, and the woodstove kept us warm. It was an inconvenience but not a tragedy. Thanks to the workers at Shenandoah Valley Electric Co-Op for being there.
Trees, railings, vehicles are still encased in a layer of ice at 4:00 this afternoon as the thermometer reads 23 degrees and the wind is kicking up. It's setting up to be a cold night in the Valley. It will be a good night to stay home with my Valentine....
