Another windy weekend in the Valley

The Shenandoah Valley is once again under a high wind warning with gusts up to 50 mph and also a Red Flag Warning because of extreme fire conditions. Check WHSV TV-3 out of Harrisonburg for the latest weather updates.

Meanwhile, the sun is bright and high temp is supposed to be around 50 (although the wind makes it feel much cooler than that). The outdoors is calling.

Yesterday's mild temperatures were nice even for this winter baby. Driving to Richmond in the early morning to attend Congressman Eric Cantor's annual campaign breakfast, we returned at mid-day to an overcast Valley with dark clouds on the horizon that brought a few rain drops at dusk. This area is dry so we needed far more than that.

SWAC Husband cleaned the grill so we could cook chicken, asparagus, and corn-on-the-cob to go with grilled peppers and onions and a garden salad for dinner. Fresh strawberries topped it off ... they were "buy one-get one free" at Martin's ... so we enjoyed their taste of summer as we all gathered around the table followed by card games and the movie, Dead Poets Society.

Plans today are to play and enjoy having family and friends here to visit. Steaks are marinating to grill later ... SWAC Daughter baked a birthday cake for her brother ... gifts are wrapped and waiting for the party. It's going to be a great weekend....
